Company History

Serving Hampton Roads since 1892, Johns Brothers is one of the most recognized and respected businesses in the area. Brothers Stuart and Kensey Johns started selling coal and firewood in the 19th century and eventually adopted fuel oil as part of their business. In 1910 the brothers hired Vincent Graves Thomas, who would become a part owner in the growing enterprise. When Vincent died in 1954, his sons purchased the company and continued to provide heating and cooling services to families and businesses throughout the Hampton Roads area. In 1974, they added security systems to their line of products and services.

In 1996, the Thomas family sold their interests in the company to Dwight C. Schaubach who has continued to expand the services and products of Johns Brothers and to polish its reputation for superb service.

In 2010, to continue that expansion and improvement of its reach, the company affiliated with to provide to any home or business professional service in not only in its historical areas of heating and cooling, but also plumbing, electrical and general handyman applications.
